        A 9-year-old macaque

        Neuralink placed one device on each side of his brain, about six weeks before filming.

      2. JOYSTICK
        He learned with his hands first

        Pager played with a joystick while the implant recorded his neurons. A decoder learned which signals meant up and which meant down.

      3. UNPLUGGED
        Then the joystick came out

        With the joystick disconnected, Pager kept playing using only his brain activity. The team called it MindPong.

      4. SMOOTHIE
        Paid in banana smoothie

        Every good rally earned a sip of banana smoothie through a straw.

        The video drops

        Neuralink released the MindPong video in April 2021, and the internet watched a monkey play Pong with his mind.
